Chroma Key Paint and Lights
In order to get the best possible green screen for chroma keying, we use Rosco Chroma Key Paint. For lighting, the studio has a mix of Kino Flo Diva-Lite 400s, Litepanel Minis and Litepanel 1x1s.
Cameras and Prompter
The studio is equipped with two Canon XH A1s used for live streaming, and a Panasonic Pro AG-HVX200A which is used for recording the show. Our prompter is a Flex Studio-17 and we run PromptDog software.

Hi I wonder if you can tell me a bit more about your grid system… is this a custom tubular system or are you using a commercial one?
Best wishes and thanks for your reply!
I love these “behind the scenes” episodes. It’s amazing the quality one can get w/ some decent equipment (and talent!) Very inspiring.
Thanks for getting your show on Tivo ! Did you see their new remote? It has a QWERTY Keyboard! Do your listeners know what Qwerty means? It’s the top letters on the keyboard.
Hugs for your shows, Love watching (and reading) your shows.
Ohhh.. this is one of my favorite episodes! I love knowing and learning how things work.
Wonderfully presented. Thanks for the tour.
looking at all these wonderful people up so early, leads me to this question Cali, when do you get most of your ideas for *writing* the script? I know, probably all the time, but for me & lots of folks I know, ideas come to mind early am like this. Maybe it’s the lack of distractions, phones, pager etc, so I’ll type out ideas on the laptop immediately. I too love all behind the scenes stuff, you’ll often find me looking at the special features, commentaries & extras on DVDs, especially if I really love the movie. I’m counting the moments for OpenCamp, all your reports & the GeekBeat shows on it, especially your jump. I finally have GB on my series 2 TiVo, it’s nice on the computer screen, but best for me on the 42″ flat panel… “B”
Yeah, I prefer watching the show on my TV also. I’ve been watching all my podcasts on a 42″ Plasma set via Plex on a Mac Mini for a couple of years now. Revision 3 is a much more popular broadcast station at my place than ABC, NBC, or CBS.
Great episode! The camera shooting through the prompter reveals the mystery of how people can be looking at the camera and still know what to say!! lol
Do you rent out your studio?
really appreciate that show-’round … very interesting, very informative … great show !
