About 2 1/2 years ago I was desperately in need of a new carrying case for my MacBook Pro. So, I went to Microcenter’s Apple product center in their store as I had noticed they had a huge selection of bags, cases, and accessories for Apple products. After 20 minutes of mulling and musing, I asked a Microcenter employee for his opinion. He immediately took me to a display rack I hadn’t seen and said, “Have you looked at the Brenthaven bags for MacBooks?”
Upon opening one of these bags I found it full of rich features including high quality padding and soft material in areas such as the iPhone pocket. I also noticed the price tag which was higher than any of the other bags I looked at.
The Microcenter employee quickly explained why these bags were more expensive. In addition to the high quality material and useful design, they were backed by a lifetime warranty. This is when I raised an eyebrow and asked myself, “Are you really going to sit on hold for an hour on some 800 number to get the run around if a zipper breaks on this bag?”. Well, I decided to snap out of this pessimistic trance and go for it. Fast forward to 2 months ago. . .
Still truly loving my Brenthaven bag and its fancy iPhone pocket, I noticed the shoulder strap was starting to come apart. Finally someone pointed it out to me on an elevator and the fact that when it broke my MacBook was going to fall to the ground. I knew it was time to contact Brenthaven and see if that pessimistic vision I had 2 1/2 years ago was going to be reality.
I contacted Brenthaven through their Warranty Repair form on their website. Contrary to my pessimistic thinking 2 1/2 years ago, it was easy to fill out and even submit pictures of my bag. They immediately contacted me and due to one other issue I had developed with the bag they decided to provide a full bag replacement. My replacement bag arrived at our office about 10 days later and I really never missed a beat in my digital life.
Brenthaven bags are great! All of their bags provide really usable space and features. Their newer ones even have sleeves for iPads with the same soft material they put in the iPhone pouches to ensure the screens don’t get scratched. In the end, I enjoy the features but the reality is that I’m tough on computer cases–I always have been. I did think twice about spending a little extra on a Brenthaven bag but don’t regret it one bit. Not only have I thoroughly enjoyed the product but the warranty was as advertised.
