Discovery Communications Acquires Revision3

May 3, 2012 By John P.

Discovery-Revision 3As you know, GeekBeat.TV is part of the Revision3 family of online shows, and today that family got a lot bigger with the announcement that Revision3 has been acquired by Discovery Communications.

Discovery is the force behind great TV shows like MythBusters, Deadliest Catch, and many more. Today, they also become one of the biggest providers of web-based television. Terms of the transaction are undisclosed but you can feel free to check out the rumors on All Things D.

JB Perrette, Chief Digital Officer, Discovery Communications had this to say about the acquisition:

“Discovery’s mission to ignite viewer’s curiosity and its history of pioneering new platforms – from cable to HD to 3D – make it the logical leader in this explosive new wave of digital video growth,”

Jim Louderback, CEO of Revision3, chimed in with:

“We’re huge fans of Discovery’s networks, and couldn’t imagine a more appropriate company to team up with to develop the future of original web-based video.”

Exciting news abounds and we’re happy to remain part of the Discovery/Revision3 family. As always, we’ll keep you updated as new developments arise.
