Maxis’ Lucy Bradshaw wrote a blog post last night informing the SimCity mayors of the world that an email would be arriving today with details on their previously announced free game apology. That email has started to circulate; I got my copy just a few moments ago.
The games available to claim are surprisingly diverse. A lot of people expected them to be cheap social games, and while several of them are, there are also some fairly big recent titles there.
- Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
- Bejeweled 3
- Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
- Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
- Medal of Honor Warfighter (Standard Edition)
- Need For Speed Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
- Plants vs. Zombies
- SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition
Now it must be noted that while the emails have arrived, you can’t actually claim a game yet today. According to the email, that will be accomplished through a redemption portal within the Origin client, and that the portal will be opening later this week. It’ll be opening on a country-by-country basis, so some people will get it sooner than others.
