The acquisitions keep on coming. Mark Zuckerberg has announced on his Facebook page that Facebook will acquire the hugely popular photo-sharing service Instagram. Facebook plans to allow Instagram to continue operating and growing independently with no announced plans to integrate the service into Facebook, although Zuckerberg did indicate an interest in integrating similar features into Facebook’s timeline. This marks the largest acquisition Facebook has made to date. All Things D is reporting the price of the deal at $1 billion in cash and shares.
