John and Cali are not using their Apple Macbooks today.. They are trying to use their Galaxy Tab.. But they are not using the new Kindle Fire. So how is the Kindle Fire?  Here’s what the crew thinks…

Bad
   * no screen auto brightness
   * no hardware volume buttons
   * screen non responsive in app store
   * previously purchased apps from market not available
   * power button very small + awkward location
   * no google apps: mail, calendar or maps
   * No Android status bar at top
   * No swype
   * Not loud enough
   * 3rd party gmail sucks
   * No desktop widgets
   * no camera
   * no gps
   * no 3 g or 4 g
   * those last 3 points limit what you can do
   * it’s not a good travel companion
   * lack of dedicated home button sucks

Good
   * Netflix works
   * Install GetJar after enabling 3rd party apps
   * Angry Birds plays fine

So, do you have a Kindle Fire? If so tell us your thoughts..

    I enjoy your show, keep it up! I subscribed to it and watching it on the Podcast app on my Blackberry Playbook. Speaking of which, have you done a Blackberry Playbook review? Did I miss it? I just your scathing review of the Kindle Fire. I’m wondering what you think of the Playbook, for $200, it’s an awesome piece of hardware but will RIM turn it around in 2012?
