A Brand New Airplane
Most of us see airplanes after they’ve flown hundreds of thousands of miles. What does one look like on its first flight after delivery?
Cutting the Ribbon
Captain Jim Kaiser had a few words to say about this new airplane before the red ribbon was cut and we all went inside to share in a toast and enjoy our flight.
New Overhead Unit
Boeing has redesigned the overhead unit to be more ergonomic and easier to use. No more guessing what button you want!
Touch Panel for Cabin Lighting
Touchscreens are everywhere, so why wouldn’t they be on an airliner? This one controls the cabin lights.
Big Bins Make Carry-Ons Easier
The overhead bins in this plane are bigger than before, but even with the ability to carry 40 more pieces of luggage, the cabin still feels bigger. And there are some very nice usability touches on the bins as well!
The Delivery Flight
Even on an incredible plane like this, good help is sometimes hard to find!
Seriously, this was a flight unlike any I ever had. It was like a party. Thanks so much to American Airlines for letting us join in on the delivery flight!

That new cabin lighting scheme is sooooo cool, I actually started to install LED lighting like that in my home theater about 3 years ago, but haven’t complete the job, this GB.TV episode has inspired me to finish it up. But the new 737 is the most innovative cabin design I’ve seen in a modern plane. How was the noise level, did you find it any quieter than the older planes Cali? “B”
Yes, I did actually notice that it was quieter than other planes.
Articulated seats are great but that is in first class not the cheap seats.
The seats in coach articulate as well, and are also installed on all 75L a/c (international 757s at AA), and are in the process of being installed on all AA 738s and domestic 757s.
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride Cali, and showing us something we probably wouldn’t get to see otherwise.
