Get Close with the Pentax D FA 645 Macro 90mm Lens

November 2, 2012 By Theo Johnson

If you want to take a great portrait shot or get up close and personal with your subject, the HD Pentax D FA 645 Macro 90mm F2.8 ED AW SR interchangeable medium-telephoto lens is for you.

In an effort to expand their medium-format lens lineup, this lens was designed exclusively for Pentax’s 645D medium-format SLR cameras. Offering macro photography at a maximum magnification of 0.5X, the FA 645 90mm lens shoots a 35mm equivalent focal length of approximately 71mm on a Pentax 645 film-format camera body. Couple the F2.8 with Pentax’s SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism within the lens barrel and you can expect sharp, blur-free images under poorest lighting conditions.

Being a part of the AW (All Weather) series, this lens is built with 11 special seals to effectively prevent the intrusion of dust and water into the lens interior.  A Super Protect (SP) coating is also applied to the front surface of this lens, repelling water and grease for easy cleaning.

There is no release date for the HD Pentax D FA 645 MACRO 90mm F2.8 ED AW SR lens, but it will be offered online and at retail outlets with a suggested retail price of $4,499.95.
