Google Releases its Own YouTube App for iOS

Google has released its own third party YouTube iOS app.  The app is designed for the iPhone and iPod touch, but Google is working on an iPad version for future release.  The move is in response to Apple dropping its own YouTube app as it distances itself from Google services in the upcoming iOS 6.

The look and feel of the new app appears very much related to the Android client and has easy access to written and voice search.  It also gives recommendations while you type into the search bar.  One glaring omission is the ability to upload videos.

The YouTube App is available now from the iOS App store.
