Google Rolls Out 1Gbps Fiber Service to First Homes

If you live in the Hanover Heights neighborhood in Kansas City, you will be the first to get Google Fiber.  I’m not talking about some time in the future; Google is hooking up its first homes to the ultra affordable 1Gbps network as I type.

Customers will see a note on their door and a new utility box on the side of their house after the house is connected to the Fiber Network.  A couple days later Google will contact you about an appointment to get your Fiber set up.  After the install man shows up, you will have 1Gbps Internet and television service.  In other words, it might be time to invest in a 802.11AC router.

If you are a Geekbeat Viewer who is one of the first to get Google Fiber, please share your experiences.
