One thing we definitely like in our gadgets is control, and easy is always best. Few controls are are easy as touch or motion, and that’s given rise to accelerometers, which are now showing up everywhere. Most recently, they’ve landed in Bluetooth headsets with the arrival of the Jawbone Era.
The Era lets you answer a call by tapping on the headset and Bluetooth pairing is done by shaking the device. Jawbone promises further motion applications with future updates. In addition to the motion controls, it brings noise canceling features developed for military environments, HD sound from a 10mm wideband speaker, and a battery indicator for the headset that displays on your phone (next to the phone’s battery indicator). Apps can be downloaded to give features like caller ID by voice and dictated email and texting.
The Jawbone Era is available now for $130. Let the accelerometer triggering gyrations begin!
