Logitech’s Revue with Google TV is due to release this month, and it looks like a pretty sweet addition to any home theatre. As the name implies, it provides access to Google TV and all of the features that come with it.
The Revue with Google TV is basically a set-top box like the Boxee Box our own Jenn Lowell wrote about several weeks back. The functionality can be extended further with a variety of accessories, including a TV cam for HD live-calling, a full QWERTY mini-controller, a full size keyboard, and the ability to control the system with the Harmony app for both iPhone and Android devices.
The Revue itself is based on Android, and apparently it will be able to run Android apps. I’m not sure how that’s going to look since Android apps are typically developed for a mobile phone display, not a huge HDTV, but I guess we’ll see in the next month.
The video calling sounds a lot more interesting. It’s not limited just to Revue users; apparently it will work with anyone who has Logitech’s Vid HD software running on another Revue, on a Mac or on a PC.
The Revue will run you $299 USD, with no specific date on the release; just “by the end of the month.” It is available for preorder on Amazon.com.
