If you’re like me, too much screen space will never happen. I’ve had people tell me I have an IMAX computer setup at home, but when I’m out and about it’s my 17-inch notebook, and when I’m out of screen there’s no second monitor to spill over onto. But that sounds like it may be about to change with today’s introduction of the Monitor2Go, a trim 15.4-inch, 1280×800 display made to accompany your on-the-road computer wherever you take it.
The display weighs four pounds and comes with its own stand. Basically it looks like a notebook computer with no keyboard. It can be hung on a wall, and the USB connection that provides the video can be daisy-chained to make a display wall with up to 6 Monitor2Go units. The display is compatible with PCs and a Mac version is in beta. It’s a joint venture between DisplayLink and Mobile Monitor Technologies and is planned to go on sale later this quarter at an estimated price of $279.
