At CES this year we saw the massive Panasonic Toughpad 4K UT-MB5 tablet – a 20-inch, high-resolution monster designed for large format, fine detail tasks such as architectural drawings.
Now, the company has released full specs and are targeting a January 2014 release date and a $5,999 price tag. The 4K display will be bring you 3840 x 2560 pixels on an LCD with LED backlighting. It’s powered by an Intel i5-3437U GHz vPro processor running at 1.9 GHz that can boost up to 2.9 GHz. Video is powered by an NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M with 2GB of dedicated video RAM. The system has 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, and the operating system will be Windows 8.1 Pro.
External interfaces include USB 3.0, an SD card slot, and a connector for a dock.
It weighs 5.27 pounds and is .49 inches thick. Battery life is only 2 hours, so you probably won’t be straying far from a power outlet.
You can expect to see the production version featured at Panasonic’s CES booth in January, but until then, they made this video for you.
