Kris Tressider wanted a sparring partner to help him get a good workout, so he set about building one. The result is the Punching Pro, an automated boxing partner that gives him more challenge than the standard punching bag. The Punching Pro is a upper torso form that can take Kris’ punches while the design of the arms and shoulders allows it to swing back with a certain unpredictability. The arms are driven by car windshield wiper motors and speed and reach can be adjusted to match a user’s skill level. Different fighting modes are currently switched between manually, but Kris has plans to make that software-controlled in the next upgrade. He is currently looking for investors and has hopes to bring the Punching Pro to market priced below $1000 U.S.
