If you’re already a Magic Trackpad user, you’re gonna love this. And if you’re not, it might make you want to become one!
The Mobee Magic Numpad is an overlay for your Apple Magic Trackpad that turns it into a fully functional keypad. The Magic Numpad comes with three different layouts so you can pick the one that’s right for you. The overlays include some additional buttons like “page up,” “home” and “page down” as well as blanks that you can configure via a downloadable app from Mobee.
You can easily switch between “numpad” mode and regular trackpad mode by tapping the top right button on the Magic Numpad. Two taps turns it on, one tap turns it off so you can use your trackpad as you normally would without typing out numbers every time you drag your finger across it.
I was initially concerned that the over lay may dull the sensitivity of the trackpad but it didn’t affect it a bit.
While typing numbers on the Magic Numpad you may find that it’s rather sensitive and easy to “double tap” a number without meaning to. I found that to be especially true with the number zero for some reason. However, once you’re aware of the sensitivity level it’s easy to adjust.
The programmable buttons can be assigned functions such as launching a specific app. I can see how this might be particularly handy for people who use specialty apps like video or audio editors, allowing them to assign the buttons for quick access to functions they use regularly.
The Mobee Magic Numpad is $29.90 and considering the dual duty your Magic Trackpad can now perform (and how much I missed having a keypad when I switched to Apple) the price is very fair.
Mobee Magic Bar and Magic Charger
Both devices are induction chargers for the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse respectively. Both have been around for a while but deserved a revisit.
Dry to 100% charge takes about 6 hours for both devices, though I generally put them in their charging position each night so it’s never a problem. If you need to travel and don’t want to carry the extra chargers & cords with you, just slip out the rechargeable batteries, drop in regular batteries and you’re ready to hit the road.
Aesthetically, the Magic Bar and Magic Charger are also nice looking well crafted devices that connect via USB to your Mac. If you’re looking for a clean simple charging system that will also look nice, give the Mobee devices a look.
The Mobee Magic Bar is $59.90 and the Mobee Magic Charger is $49.90.
