Efficiency of Power Transfer

One of the key issues in wireless charging is efficiency of power transfer. You want to have as much power reach the device as possible, rather than getting lost in the air on the way.

The Powermat Model

Powermat is a system a lot of us are familiar with, but it requires a special mat, a special phone case, and it still needs a cord.

Wireless Power Consortium

The Wireless Power Consortium has created a standard for charging technology with the hope of greater interchangeability between devices following their “Qi” (pronounced “chee”) standard.

The Alliance for Wireless Power

Another organization working in the wireless power realm is The Alliance for Wireless Power, which counts Powermat, Samsung, and Qualcomm as members.

I would appreciate not having to charge my phone so much. I transfer a cord from the car, to the house, to the laptop bag, etc. I can’t even guess how different my children’s life could be.

I never watched Battlestar Galactica, but I have seen all of the Psych episodes and liked most of them.

Good set guys. Check out Better off Ted (on Netflix).
