U.S. Cellular has announced that they will launch service and devices to support the speedier standard by the holiday season. Of course, you’ll want to make sure your recipients are in one of the coverage areas before you finalize your gift list. Initial rollout coverage is expected in selected cities in Iowa, Wisconsin, Maine, North Carolina, Texas, and Oklahoma. Specific cities mentioned in the announcement were Milwaukee, Madison and Racine, Wisconsin; Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Davenport, Iowa; Portland and Bangor, Maine; and Greenville, North Carolina. This should make the LTE network available to more than 25% of U.S. Cellular’s current customers. The company is promising multiple devices to support the network, but there was no word on specific makes or models. 2 Responses Benjamin J. Though I got notice that they were making improvements to their equipment on water tower…. I may switch back to them next time, I miss having good coverage at home….
