Today is the day you’ve been waiting for! It calls for a celebration…right?
If you’re a CURRENT Verizon customer and you want the latest and greatest, then, yes it’s time for a celebration! The iPhone 4 is now available for preordering on the Verizon network, but only for current Verizon customers. AT&T customers, you’ll have to wait until February 9th. The hardware is slightly different than the iPhone 4 on AT&T. They’ve improved the antenna, which required moving it slightly, so the volume and vibrate buttons are almost unnoticeably in a different place. Your existing case will certainly know the difference, but Apple has that problem covered.
The Verizon iPhone 4 can be used as a mobile hotspot (expect to pay for it), but its downside will be that it can NOT access data and voice at the same time. So if you’re on a phone call, you won’t be able to simultaneously look at a website. Beware extreme data users – it’s looking likely that Verizon might throttle the top 5% data users’ speeds in an effort to keep the network running efficiently.
There will certainly be a flood of AT&T customers leaving for greener pastures on Verizon. If you decide to stick around AT&T, you may see improved performance and less dropped calls, and they may even make it possible for you to use your iPhone as a hotspot, too… perhaps on February 13th…?
I’m pretty certain Verizon will be able to handle the influx of customers and network usage. They’ve always had great service and have spent a lot of money on improving their network’s capability. But only time will tell.

I’m not eligible for a new phone until the end of April. I’m going to wait until the next version of the iPhone is available in June.
Yes I most likely will get the Verizon iPhone, as long apple releases the same cool apps & SW AT&T has has for their iPhone. But I too must wait, till the END of December. Oh well, I think it’ll be worth it… “B”
