3D Printing Your Own Clothes!

February 19, 2014 by giovanni

Did Samsung Steal Apple’s Fingerprint Scanner?

Oooh, the world is all a buzz! Samsung is STEALING Apple’s idea! Or maybe it’s Apple who stole Samsung’s idea! Samsung should be showing off the new Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress WITH a fingerprint scanner. I’m sure there will be a lawsuit that will last two years and a judge will eventually decide to stop one of their devices from being sold within the US….

Oh. Wait. That already happened. Regardless, I don’t think fingerprint scanners can be attributed to either Apple or Samsung. Especially since the HTC One has one too. Maybe HTC will sue Apple next. Anyway, I digress. The point is, fingerprint scanners are going to be the wave of the future. At least the wave of this next year of phone releases. Remember to join us and Tom Merritt for our live coverage of Samsung’s Unpacked event where we expect to get more info on the 24th at 2 PM Eastern at geekbeat.tv/live.

Last Chance for Overstuffed Boxes of Bad Parking Cards

Also don’t forget that it’s your last chance to get the Overstuffed Boxes of Bad Parking Cards before we send ALL orders through Amazon and cap off the boxes at 250 cards.

I’m sorry, but we can’t ship internationally. Please don’t hate us! It’s too expensive and gosh darnit, it’s a time consuming and painful process!

RC Flying TARDIS Can Be Yours

I found something I really, really, really want. It’s not bacon! It’s a flying TARDIS! Technically, it’s an RC flying TARDIS. It runs on 4 AA batteries. It has vertical takeoff and landing and… well… the battery lasts for a whopping 7 minutes! Who cares! It’s a flying TARDIS! Unfortunately, it’s not bigger on the inside.

Print Your Own Clothes!

Good news! You no longer EVER have to go shopping. Ever again! Well, unless your wife tells you to go shopping with her. That I can’t help you with. You’re on your own. But I sure look forward to the day I never have to step foot in another mall. All it’ll take is some time and $757. OpenKnit.org has open source plans and all the information you need to create your own clothes printer. Knitter. Kind of both actually. So you build this thing and then go to DoKnitYourself.com and choose your clothes template or make your own. You can get a nice sweater. Or a beanie. Or a multi-colored scarf. Or a translucent dress.

Once you’ve got your new clothes, you can ensure that it’s wrinkle-free thanks to products such as a dressing up rail.

A what? A translucent dress? No…no… no. Don’t do that one. No good can come from that one just go for regular beauty uniforms.

Fill Your Home with 3D Printed Furniture

Maybe making furniture is really the way to go. It’ll cost a little bit more. $39,000. BigRep ONE is a large 3D printer that’ll allow you to print anything… furniture… manufacturing parts… a larger than life kitty. Anything up to 3 ¼ x 3 ¾ x almost 4 feet! Pretty impressive! Whatever you decide you can use nylon, plastic or Laywood, a mixture of polymers and wood fibers.

What will YOU print? And more importantly, where will you put it in your house?? Hmm… leave a comment below.

Ummm.. Didn’t the Motorola Atrix have it (the Fingerprint scanner) first back in 2011? Hmmmm? YES, I know this because I still have one sitting around here. Boooommm!
