Stylus fans who don’t want to give up the features of a full notebook computer will be interested to hear of Acer’s newest update, the second-generation Aspire R7-572. In addition to the Ezel-Hinge, which allows the screen to pivot and fold from a standard laptop configuration to that of a tablet, the new model has added a digitizer in the touchscreen to support an optional Acer DuoSense active stylus. The active stylus support recognizes 256 levels of pressure for a range of line strengths when writing and drawing, and the stylus has interchangeable tips and configurable side buttons.
System specs include a 15.6-inch 1920×1080 IPS touchscreen, Intel Core i5-4200U processor, 8 GB of memory, a 1 TB hard drive, and a full-size backlit keyboard. Ports include HDMI, 3 USB, and an SD card reader. The operating system is Windows 8.1.
The R7-572 will be available exclusively at Best Buy for $899.99, and the stylus will run $49. Both will be in-store and online in early December.
