Polymer Fiber Could Make Brain Implants Safer

Scientists are making waves in the brain implant space! Implants have a lot of problems right now. One example… they can cause damage to the tissue if left in too long. Which leads to other problems. So in order to find a better solution, a team at MIT has created a flexible fiber implant. It’s a flexible polymer thinner than a human hair, and it’ll be able to carry chemicals, light and electricity. So, this means that it could be inserted into the brain… presumably without harming the patient, and can be left there to deliver drugs as needed to patients dealing with Parkinson’s or other neurological diseases. Very cool stuff!

GoPro to Bring You NHL Players’ View on the Ice

With technology that’s constantly moving forward, it always seems to have an impact on the other things in life that are a constant. Like sports. Games of all kinds have been the same for a very long time! But now, we get to experience them in new and fun ways. Over the last few years, we’ve seen livestreaming become a part of games so we can enjoy them from home or on the go. GoPro has made a name for itself capturing exciting stunts. Now the two come together.

GoPro is teaming up with the NHL to bring you live footage of games on ice. A completely different perspective that will allow you to appreciate the talent of the players even more. Players will wear them on their heads and send a live signal. I haven’t found any details about HOW they’re sending the signal, but if I find more, I’ll let you know! And you know… ESPN announced last week that they’ll be using drones to cover the Winter X Games. It’s all a-changin’! I’m curious… what kinds of views or angles or different kinds of coverage would YOU like to see in your favorite pro games?

Robot Used to Discover New Sea Life Under Anarctica

Another view that you might not have expected is a look 2430 feet under the ice in Antarctica. Researchers used a robot called Deep-SCINI – SCINI stands for Submersible Capable of under Ice Navigation and Imaging. Yeah… I’ll stick with SCINI. It has cameras on it to capture what it sees as it traveled 45 minutes below the Ross Ice Shelf. What they were shocked to find were LIVING fish. Can you imagine how cold it is there??? But hey… robots finding new life! Told you they couldn’t be all that bad!

Three Beautiful Words – Batmobile Baby Stroller

I have three words for you. Batmobile. Baby. Stroller. Oh, yeah… a baby stroller. Made to look like a batmobile. O. M. G. It was made by the Superfan Builds team. They started out with a model on the computer, used a regular car seat for the kid to stay comfortable and safe, then built the frame with steel and PVC foam sheeting. Paint it up real nice and he’s riding in style! I just wonder how much longer that kid has before he’s out of a stroller. They may have to have another kid just to get more use out of it. Yep. I think that’s a good idea….
