Rene and Serenity talked with a CEA Foundation representative about the range of things being shown at the show. Highlights included a lot of interface functionality like voice control for Kinect. Robotics and prosthetics also came up, all things that make peoples lives easier and more full. This is an area of big concern for the CEA Foundation; it’s their mission to help seniors and people with disabilities. They’ve talked to people like Stevie Wonder who benefit greatly from these sorts of technologies, and others like a gentleman who upgraded Stephen Hawking’s communication system, and discussed the role of 3D printing and the open source community in the rapid decline in prosthetic development and the incredible speed with which 3D printed prosthetics are improving into remarkable products that are widely available.
