#CESLive: Make Your Phone into a Tricorder with Sensor Jacket

January 15, 2014 by Dexter

John and Derek talk to Dr. Jacob Fraden of Sensor Jacket about augmenting the capabilities of smartphones by adding additional sensors to the case to do all kinds of interesting stuff like take surface temperatures, analyze breath, check the thermal distribution of heat in a building, stud detectors for construction workers, all kinds of stuff. The various sensor jackets would essentially turn a smart phone into the next best thing to a Star Trek tricorder. They take the power they need from the NFC capabilities of the phone they’re wrapped around, which is pretty cool. NFC also transmits the sensor data from the jacket to the phone.
