Congrats! Mobile Startup Launches Video-Based Greeting and Gifting App

An Industry Game Changer, New App Revolutionizes Greeting Card Space with Personalized Messages and Gifts

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 13, 2014— Mobile startup Congrats today announced the launch of its gifting app, designed to connect people through personalized video greetings and gifts for celebrating special occasions, milestones, and holidays. A game changer within the greeting card space, Congrats provides an entirely new and innovative platform, allowing users to authentically interact with friends and loved ones with custom video messages sent instantly via a smartphone or tablet.

Congrats offers a clean, modern and easy-to-use interface for recording video greetings and sending thoughtful gifts on the go. Users can record personal, one-on-one messages or have the option to collaborate with up to 19 friends and loved ones to create a group greeting. All video messages can be tailored depending on the celebration—from birthdays and anniversaries to holidays, job promotions and birth announcements—and further personalized with filters, frames and handwritten signatures. Additionally, the free mobile app links with Facebook® to ensure users never miss an upcoming celebration.

“We live in a technology-driven world where people are extremely dependent on their mobile devices,” said Alan Hunt, CEO of Congrats. “Our goal in creating Congrats is to truly change the way people celebrate special occasions and milestones, no matter where they are in world—all while curbing the carbon footprint. Coupling authenticity with convenience, our video-based platform eliminates the hassles of the traditional greeting and gift-giving process, such as the time and effort invested in picking out and mailing a card or gift.”
Recent findings from comScore show mobile adoption continuing to grow, with more than 143 million people—including 76 percent of millennials—owning smartphones and more than 71 million owning tablets as of 2013. Congrats was developed for the rapidly-evolving market, enabling users to easily make authentic connections with thoughtful messages and gifts.

Through a simple process, Congrats users can record and send a personal video message with an option to add a Giftly, a cash gift ranging from $1 to $1,000 that includes suggestions for how the recipient can spend the money. Upon receipt via the app, email or SMS, the video can be downloaded and saved to a mobile device or computer; the Giftly, once redeemed, is added to the recipient’s credit or debit card for immediate use.

In addition to changing the way people recognize life’s most memorable events, Congrats is dedicated to reducing the greeting card industry’s carbon footprint by minimizing the need to rely on paper or transportation to acknowledge a special moment. Additionally, to counter the millions of trees cut down annually to fuel the traditional greeting card industry—with 300,000 cut down in the U.S. alone for the December holiday season—Congrats has partnered with PATT (Plant a Tree Today) Foundation and is committed to planting trees in the world’s most deforested regions whenever greetings are delivered with Congrats.

Congrats is currently available through the Apple App Store on iPhone 4S, 5S, 6 and iPad.
