DVDO has introduced its iSCAN Mini Upscaler. The box takes an SD or HD HDMI signal and up-converts to all the way up to 4K through an HDMI 2.0 port to your 4K TV. It features a demo mode which will show you side to side images of the original and upscaled image. It does this using its VRS Clear View Technology developed by DVDO’s parent company Silicon Image. The iSCAN Mini also has a set of professional tools and test patterns.
The iScan Mini costs $299 and is available through DVDO’s retailer network.
DVDO INTRODUCES iSCAN 4K ULTRA HD VIDEO ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM
Improves SD and Full HD picture quality through 4K adaptive scaling, noise reduction and resolution enhancement technology
SUNNYVALE, CA – June 23 – DVDO, Inc., an award-winning provider of high-quality, high-definition (HD) video processing, switching and connectivity solutions, today announced the iScan Mini, a compact video enhancement system that significantly improves the picture quality of SD and HD content using Silicon Image’s VRS® ClearView™ technology which features a studio-grade 4K Ultra HD adaptive scaling engine, as well as other noise reduction and picture enhancement technologies. The scaling engine processes video and graphics content independently, delivering outstanding picture quality on 4K and Full HD displays. The iScan Mini is available for an MSRP of $299 through authorized DVDO distributors, dealers and online partners.
iScan Minis powerful video processing technologies address the need to improve picture quality from highly compressed sources such as internet streaming or downloaded content. A built-in demo mode allows side-by-side comparison of before and after video to showcase the iScan Minis performance. In addition, a full set of setup tools enables professional display adjustment.
“While the 4K TV market is experiencing steady growth, native 4K content is still hard to come by,” said C.H. Chee, general manager of DVDO, Inc. “The image quality of content delivered by DVDs, Blu-ray discs or streamed over the Internet often lacks visual detail or is hampered by low-resolution and high compression. The iScan Minis scaling and enhancement technologies enables consumers to enjoy cinema-quality video on their 4K Ultra HD or Full HD TV by bringing out details and nuances not visible in the original content.”
Packaged in a small form-factor, the iScan Mini can be placed behind an existing A/V Receiver or even wall-mounted TV for a clean set-up. It can be used as a stand-alone device to improve the picture quality on any display, but is the perfect companion to a video processor or switcher such as DVDOs iScan Duo, EDGE Green, or Quick6.
iScan Mini Features:
- VRS ClearView Technology
- 4K Ultra HD Adaptive Scaling (HDMI 2.0)
- Edge and Detail Enhancement
- Video Smoothing
- Mosquito Noise Reduction
- On-screen audio & video EDID editing
- Display setup tools
