EXCLUSIVE! NewTek TriCaster Mini Hands On

October 7, 2014 by John P.

We’ve always talked a lot about the TriCaster from NewTek. It powers all our live productions and makes live camera switching incredibly easy, throwing in some awesome on-screen effects in the bargain. So we were very excited to get an exclusive hands-on first look at the new TriCaster Mini today in our studio!

Philip Nelson and Scott Carroll from NewTek joined us, giving us a great demonstration of the new TriCaster’s abilities. The Mini can handle up to four live video sources over HDMI, and two live network connections.

The Mini comes in two versions, the HD-4 which provides 15 hours of storage and the HD4i which gives you 45 hours and a built-in display for monitoring the video you are capturing.

And, as Phillip demonstrated for us, setup of an entire video stage (including green screen and monitor) takes less than 5 minutes.

We’re estimating if you’re setting up video production from scratch, buying cameras, lights, cables, and powering it all with the TriCaster Mini, you can get everything up and running for under $10,000 – which is incredibly affordable for professional-quality video production.

The new TriCaster Mini is available to ship today, but it’s already on back order – so get your order in! The Mini HD-4 is priced at $5995, while the HD-4i runs $7995.

Like that little lighting kit the guy used. Any chance I can get the model?
