Explore Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, Japan

April 16, 2013 by John P.

Murasaki Mura Village

Murasaki Mura Village began as a set built for a TV show, but now it’s a public space operating as an arts village were people can learn traditional crafts and disciplines. One of the things Cali did there was build a musical instrument called a Sansin.

Meanwhile, I painted up a Shisa, one of the traditional lion dogs we mentioned in yesterday’s show. What should we name him? Leave a comment below.

Kabrirawan Harbor

Kabrirawan Harbor was a beautiful place, exactly what you think of when you’re imagining a Pacific island, with white sands and crystal clear water.

Ohama Tsunami Ishi

In 1771 there was a huge tsunami that killed two-thirds of the population. It picked up a giant boulder and deposited it surprisingly far in from the beach.

Your episodes on Japan are a treat for me. I love watching foreign places in such high definition.

Yet my comment is about the 23&me promo. Our son was diagnosed with young onset parkinson’s diesase at the age of 34- about a year ago. *you may know this* Anyway 23 & me offered for people with Parkinson’s disease to have the testing done at no charge. The results have fascinated our son. Such a wealth of information was returned. This has him digging into ancestors and just all in all been a great thing. I am waiting for the day that they’ll do free DNA tests for People with Multiple Scleorsis or Mother’s of people with Parkinson’s . I would gladly do this if I had the money. It can only help to know things you are showing to be susceptible to . Anyway I highly recommend this testing from 23 & me
