Our Favorite Gadgets of the Week

April 3, 2014 by John P.

Luxa2 P-Mega Battery – $155

If you need to charge a bunch of phones or tablets, all at once, check out the Luxa2 P-Mega Battery. It packs 41,600mAh of power. It’s the largest portable battery you can get, with three 2 amp ports and three 1 amp ports.

Polaroid Z2300 Digital Instant Print Camera – $179

The Polaroid Z2300 is a mashup of the modern digital photography world and the instant camera prints of the past. You can take a digital picture with it and immediately make a physical print that rolls right out of the camera. And the picture even has a peel-off backing that makes it a sticker. Paper costs $7 for 30 shots.

Fugoo Tough Bluetooth Wireless Speaker – $229
Fugoo Sport Bluetooth Wireless Speaker – $200

Need a Bluetooth speaker that can really handle the abuse? Once wrapped in its sturdy outer case, the Fugoo Tough lives up to its name. For less demanding duties, consider the Fugoo Sport.

Pelican ProGear Vault Extreme Protection Case for iPad Mini – $75

And if you want similar super-strong protection for your iPad Mini, Pelican has the case for you with the ProGear Vault Extreme.

Acer K137 Home Theater Projector – $600

We use the Acer K137 projector around the studio quite a bit. It’s a tiny, portable power house with its own built-in speakers. Great at home or in the conference room!

WeCharger – $30

You always need to keep stuff charged on the road, and the WeCharger does that, keeping the juice flowing to your MacBook from a standard car or plane power port.

D-Link DIR-510L Portable Router and Charger – $138

And while you’re on the road, you want connectivity, too – right? The D-Link DIR-510L will plug into the Ethernet in a hotel to create your own personal wireless hotspot. Or it can hop onto an existing Wi-Fi network to make your own wireless LAN. It’s also a 4000mAh battery!

Cable Comb – $45

Your cables are probably looking a bit unkempt. It’s okay, everyone’s could use some neatening up, and the Cable Comb is just the tool to get them looking presentable, all running the same direction and ready for tying together.

Apricorn Aegis Padlock SSD – $50

How about a hard drive that packs its own security? The Apricorn Aegis Padlock SSD is a portable USB hard drive that protects itself with built-in password security and a keypad to enter that password right on the case.

Slim Guide Skinfold Caliper – $15

You know we’re doing the #GeekFit program, and a big part of that is measuring percentage of body fat. This caliper will pinch your flesh and tell you how well your workouts have been paying off.

For “Stuff we like”, how about calling it the “Toyroom” segment? “This is what’s in our toy room right now” etc.

    That’s my two cents. :p

I think you should call it “S.W.U.N.” (Swhoon) Stuff we (are) using now. I love this segment because we see a wide variety of new products at one time.

The D-Link DIR-510L is available at other stores than Amazon for $99. (Newegg, probably others.)

I think you should name it “The Promiscuous Gadget Review”. Sort of edgy, sexy, and casual. Hey, kind of like your show. Love what you do, keep it up.

Yeah, you could do a skin tight “James Bond Style” silhouette of Cali, with her back and one foot up against Dexter (your logo). I digress, just a thought.

I think you should call these segments “Shiny Show and Tell” 🙂

That was some pretty cool stuff! Hey, how about “This Weeks Cool Stuff!”?
