We’ve teased you long enough, so the big news is – once again, we’ve outgrown our home of the past 3 years!
“Way back” on June 25, 2010, we launched Geek Beat with the goal of establishing a new brand of Tech News that would deliver content in every form our community wanted to consume it. Originally, we began with a daily show hosted by Cali, and delivered via the Revision3 network.
Soon after, we began to add written content, with Dave Peterson at the helm. And some of you will recall we also launched WebBeat.TV, hosted by Pelpina Trip, while also producing My Mobile Life on the Mevio network.
All of this production was being done out of a single 10’x12′ bedroom in a home, until finally we were bursting at the seams! So we took a giant leap of faith and on April 1, 2011, we moved into a 4,000 sq ft facility at the Livid Lobster studios in Addison, TX.
This move allowed us to really expand, notably with the Geek Beat LIVE show, and production of other TV based shows like Revision3 Remix and Diggnation Remix hosted by Brian Brushwood, which air on the YouToo TV Network. And while our move to Addison was necessary and important, it was never ideal because we were forced to convert an office environment into a TV production facility. We knew from day one that eventually we’d have to grow out of it – or fade away.
Thanks to all of our partners, sponsors, and most importantly YOU – our FRIENDS, we’ve managed to continue to grow and survive, and today we’re incredibly proud to announce that not only are we moving into a much bigger facility; Livid Lobster is actually buying our own building! Now, make no mistake, this is a HUGE stretch for us, and it carries with it risk! So we’re going to need a lot of help from the community, and we’ll let you know how very soon. I’m hoping we can count on you for sure! In the meantime, if you’d like to support us, you and join the hundreds of friends of the show who are helping us every month through Patreon.
We’re currently scheduled to close on the new building in early March, and as soon as we take possession we’ll give you a tour and have a discussion about our plans for the new facility, which will include a large proper production area, beautiful new office space, and a whole host of some of the coolest and most cutting edge technologies of any building, anywhere – but not until after an extensive and costly remodeling process.
We know you’re going to love it! And we can’t wait to share it with you. Because this isn’t just our new home… it’s OUR new home! And it’s a demonstration of our long term commitment to the community.
So, here’s to the House That Geeks Built! Are you ready?
