As I return from a brief Civcation (a term coined by a co-worker; I’ve been mired in the depths of Civilization V addiction for days,) I found a bit of a gem in our tips inbox. Jebs Apps has a new app of interest to geeks everywhere; This Day in Geek History. It’s a very simple app, you check it on a daily basis and it gives you a list of interesting facts that happened in history on that day. They claim to have 1500 facts in their database now, with more being added constantly.
The app comes in two flavors; the Lite version is free, and limits you to a list of the first 10 facts for a given date. The free version is ad supported. For $0.99, the paid version eliminates ads, shows you every fact available for every day, lets you browse days other than the current day, lets you share interesting facts with Twitter, Facebook, etc, and gives you selectable wallpapers.
Both are available at the Android Marketplace and at AppBrain.

Now also available for all iOS devices with a huge update the DB… Now over 3,000 Facts!!! Video up on YouTube to see it before you buy it too!
