Group Chat, Walkie Talkie-Style with Voxer for iPhone

March 15, 2011 by Ross LaRocco

voxer talk screenLots of buzz around Group Messaging applications this year. The advantage is to rid cellular bills of expensive messaging plans. What if that were possible with voice minutes too?

Voxer is Group Chat with a Walkie Talkie feature built-in. Similar to Nextel Direct Connect, but as an iPhone application. Push and hold, and you’re instantly chatting with one or more friends.

* Works over WiFi, 3G and any other data network
* Does not use your voice or SMS plans
* Connect with your Facebook friends who have Voxer instantly
* Push notifications for new messages and for new friends joining you
* Play voice messages faster
* Share your Location with friends
* Create voice and text messages even without network connectivity. Your messages will be sent as soon as you reconnect

Works great on-the-go, but remember don’t message while driving! Unless you have an iPad 2 mount like these guys.
