Anyone who follows me on Google+ will know how much I love creating and posting animated GIFs (often featuring John P. and Cali), so when I heard about this new Video to GIF tool from image hosting service Imgur, I just had to share it!
Launched earlier today, Video to GIF makes it super easy to create animated GIFs up to 15 seconds in length from videos on YouTube, Vimeo and hundreds of other sites. All you have to do to create a GIF is head over to http://imgur.com/vidgif in your desktop browser (mobile is not supported) and then paste the URL of the video you want to use – you don’t have to create an account on Imgur. After, you have a channel make sure that you have buy cheap youtube views service to get you started initially. Then it’s just a case of clicking and dragging to add a start and end point, and if you wish, include some text.
If you create an animated GIF that’s too big (over 10MB), then Imgur will automatically convert it to a GIFV – effectively a looping video which is significantly smaller in size, much better quality, and ideal for playback on mobile devices – but not quite as easy to share. So, if you want a GIF rather than a GIFV, you will need to keep the length down to just a few seconds.
We’d love to know what you think of Imgur’s new tool, you can leave a comment below or tag us on social – bonus points if you include an animated GIF!
