Is Atlas Wearables the Smartest Fitness Tracker Yet?

February 20, 2014 by giovanni

Atlas Wearables has taken IndieGoGo by storm! Asking for $125,000 in their crowdfunding campaign, they’ve blown way past that. With 16 days still left to go, they’re already at $486,000. So what has captured so many people’s attention?

Atlas is a wrist activity tracker that claims to be more accurate than anything else you can buy and includes a display so you can see what’s happening real time without the need to look at an app. It’ll track the normal things like:

  • Calories Burned
  • Steps Taken
  • Heart Rate
  • Sleep

But it’ll also be able to tell the difference between:

  • A Pushup vs. a Lunge
  • A Regular Pushup vs. a Triangle Pushup
  • Simultaneous Bicep Curls vs. Alternating Bicep Curls
  • Weight Training vs. Swimming (Yep, it’s water resistant.)

Initially, Atlas will be targeted towards exercise routines like weight training and swimming. They’re looking to developers to help build applications that integrate with it.

You can support the IndieGoGo campaign for $189 as an early bird. They expect to ship in December 2014.
