LG Takes Android Wear Luxury with LG Watch Urbane

February 16, 2015 by Benjamin J. Roethig

LG-G-Watch-URBANE

LG was one of the original entrants into the Android Wear game with their G Watch. They followed that up with the much more watch like G Watch R. With their third Android wear entry, LG is going after the luxury crowd with the LG Watch Urbane. No, that wasn’t a typo. G Watch is out for this model, and LG Watch is in.

In many ways, the LG Watch Urbane could be viewed as a sub-model of the G Watch R. The specs look to be nearly identical with the same 1.3″ 320×320 P-OLED Screen, 1.2ghz Snapdragon 400 CPU, 512mb of memory, 4GB of storage, 410mAh battery, and both 9-axis as well as PPG heart rate sensors shared between the two models. The Urbane also has an IP67 water and dust resistance rating. Where it’s different is in the case. The G Watch R is more mainstream while the Urbane is meant for the office and cocktail parties. It comes in gold and silver casings with a 22mm leather strap. It’s also slightly narrower and shorter than the G Watch R while being slightly thicker.

We’ll know more About the LG Watch when its formally shown off during the first week of March during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Pricing and availability were not announced.
