Lincoln Electric PowerMIG 180 Dual – Review and Complete Tutorial

November 8, 2013 by John P.

Welcome to the Lincoln Electric PowerMIG 180 Dual Complete Tutorial! We received the PowerMIG 180 Dual for review a couple of months ago, and after spending some time with it I’ve come to the conclusion that if you could only have one welder – this is the one you should own.

Intro to the PowerMIG 180 Dual

What started out as a simple review ended up as an exhaustive tutorial to introduce one of the most versatile welders made in the world. The PowerMIG 180 Dual is capable of being used with 110V or 220V current, and it’s also able to weld using shielding gas as a wire-fed MIG welder or without shielding gas using flux-core wire.

PowerMIG 180 Dual

This makes it a perfect machine for beginners or professionals as it has the ability to be used in a shop or on the go for most light welding needs. All of that, combined with the fact that it’s a decent little welder, encouraged me to spend an inordinate amount of time building this complete tutorial.

Speaking of which, the best way you can thank me for the countless hours spent creating this content is to share it across all of your social networks. 🙂 I promise, it’ll put a smile on my face to see that I helped you out.

The Lincoln Electric PowerMIG 180 Dual Tutorial

The tutorial is broken down into multiple sections so you can review and complete each at whatever pace is comfortable for you (because it’s LONG). When you’re ready, get started by selecting the article below. Each includes detailed instructions and photographs as well as a video demonstration for that section.

In case you missed it, you may want to check out our PowerMIG 180 Unboxing to see what comes with the welder when you purchase one. If you haven’t yet gotten one, you can sometimes find it on Amazon.com. Otherwise, check with your local welding supply shops.

The Lincoln Electric PowerMIG 180 Dual Wins Geek Beat Editor’s Choice Award

Geek Beat Editors Choice 2013I think the fact that this is the most comprehensive review / tutorial in the history of Geek Beat provides a clue to why this product wins an Editor’s Choice award.

The ease of use, extreme portability, and incredible flexibility of the Lincoln Electric PowerMIG 180 make it a piece of equipment worthy of being part of any welder’s arsenal. Beginner and expert alike can find plenty of uses in the shop or on the go for this tool, and the price point is a perfect compromise between low end consumer grade gear and pro quality kit.
