Mineways: Print 3D Models of your Minecraft Creations

January 8, 2012 by Wen Duan

Mineways is an open source free software that lets you “interactively select a model from Minecraft world map and render it, or send it to a 3D printer or 3D printing service (such as Shapeways)”. Mineways is built over the open source program Minutor, a mapping tool for Minecraft. The software takes the information that you can gather with Minutor and allows you to export a 3D printer friendly format in a datafile and a texture file. With these exports, any Minecraft user can upload their model to a 3D printer or send it to a 3D printer service (Shapeways) and have their model printed.

Since 3D printer technology has become relatively affordable (the tower below is $25 via Shapeways), it will not be surprising if we will be seeing a lot of outstanding Minecraft 3D Models in this year to come.
