Corning’s Optical Thunderbolt Cables have won 3 awards. Okay, not exactly but a video about them has. Corning’s Cables Just Got Better video is about the advantages of optical cables at long ranges. They also demonstrate the cables which are based on light pulses rather than signals over copper wire. The company also claims they are significantly thinner and 1/5th the weight of copper cables. The awards won were the 2014 Bronze People’s Telly Award for a Commercial or Marketing Piece, and Telly Awards in the Business-to-Customer Campaign and Art Direction categories. The Telly awards focus on television programs and ads. You can find the series on Corning’s YouTube Page.
Corning Wins Three at 35th Annual Telly Awards
CORNING, N.Y. — July 21, 2014 – Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) announced it has been awarded three Telly Awards for its Thunderbolt™ Optical Cables by Corning video. The video received the 2014 Bronze People’s Telly Award for a Commercial or Marketing Piece, in addition to two Telly Awards won in the Business-to-Customer Campaign and Art Direction categories.
Corning’s video, titled Cables Just Got Better, demonstrates how Corning’s all-optical Thunderbolt fiber cables use light to connect computers and devices at incredible speed and over long distances. The award-winning video is one in a five-part series created to show Optical Cables by Corning are longer, up to 50 percent thinner, up to 80 percent lighter, and stronger than their equivalent copper counterparts.
“We wanted to show professional users that their creative workflow is no longer limited by the cables that connect computers to critical peripherals,” said Kim Hartwell, senior vice president and chief commercial officer, Corning Optical Communications. “This simple, minimalistic video cleverly illustrates how Optical Cables by Corning transform people’s lives through innovation, and we’re proud of the recognition it has received.”
The first all-optical fiber cables for the Thunderbolt community, Optical Cables by Corning are enabled by Corning® ClearCurve® VSDN® optical fiber. With a “zero bend” radius, they can withstand bending, squeezing and tangling without damage or loss of function. They can also “daisy-chain” up to six Thunderbolt devices at the same time and are “hot swappable,” meaning they can be attached and removed without interruption to the system.
In its 35th season, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
