Here’s some good news for Pebble-owning iOS users. The iPhone companion app for the popular smartwatch has today been updated to include access to the official Pebble appstore – a centralized location to discover, manage and install apps and watchfaces.
The new store features over 1000 apps and watchfaces at launch, with the former divided into six categories – Daily, Tools & Utilities, Notifications, Remotes, Fitness, and Games.
Along with apps created by smaller developers, there’s expected to be a number from bigger names, including: ESPN, Foursquare, GoPro, and Yelp. All of the apps are free to download, and you can have a maximum of eight installed on your Pebble at any one time.
Downloaded apps can be managed from a Locker section within the main companion app on your phone, allowing you to quickly install and remove them from your smartwatch.
The updated app is currently rolling out to Apple’s App Store, so may not be available for all users straightaway. Pebble has not revealed when the Android companion app will be updated with the appstore, but says it’s “coming very, very soon”.
