You guys have been asking me questions like crazy! So today I’m gonna answer a bunch. Like crazy.
I’m lumping all your questions together. Well, maybe not all of them. But like 6 of them. Because that’s all I’ve got time for!

What Windows Laptop is Good for Developers?
Jason Wynn asked me what kind of Windows laptop would make a good portable development machine. Well, that kinda threw me into a conundrum! Because I’ve been playing with the Microsoft Surface 3 for the last month, and to be honest, I really love it. Now the one I have is basically the top of the line version, and it’s quite fast and very responsive. I love the screen and the keyboard, and even the stand on the back is very well done – keeping in mind that this is a tablet not a laptop. So it’s kinda hard to use while sitting on your lap.
But then I discovered there’s a throttling issue on the CPU that prevents the machine from running at full speed all the time and that kinda quenched my dreams of using it as the perfect all-around Windows portable. I still think its one of the best Windows machines you can get however for all around daily use. If you’re surfing the web, doing documents, and things like that, the $999 version of the Surface 3 is hard to beat. I just wouldn’t spring for the full blown $1,600 version because you’ll end up paying for performance you’ll never get.
Having said all that, I ended up buying a Lenovo Yoga. The size, weight, CPU, RAM and price combination make for a compelling argument! So if you need something portable that can still chew through code or run Adobe Premier, check it out.
What is a Good Video Camera for a 10-Year-Old?
Colby wanted to know what would be a good camera for his 10 year old who wants to do more YouTube videos?
Well Colby, 10 year olds nowadays generally have the technical production skills of Steven Spielberg. So for all I know, your kid is going to knock out another Jurassic Park, or Carrie, or something. But to be certain about my answer, I ordered a new Canon Vixia Mini X camcorder to play with, and it was so good that I ordered another!
If you happened to catch my VLOG when I was driving down the road talking, well I was using the Mini X. And if you saw our unboxing of the new Videolink Tricaster box, that was shot with both of the Mini Vixias. At this point I can wholeheartedly recommend that little camera for just about anyone. It has both wide angle and closeup fixed focal positions, microphone and headphone jacks, and its small enough to go anywhere! All for under $350! It’s a winner.

John Wow the tri-caster mini was cool but I really need some other info Where did he get that portable green screen setup and the portable led lights setup. We are going to make a complete portable station using the mini for our school system. To record events. I tlaked to you about how we are putting in tricasters in schools now to do news programs at the schools using Safari Montage and this would be a great addition. I already found the monitor but I need the rest of the info.
Hope to hear from you soon
