Review: 2015 Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker

July 17, 2015 by John P.

Oh, I’ve seen Dodge Challengers driving around in captivity. Once in a while you spot an SRT. And if you’re really, really lucky you may one day catch a glimpse of the elusive Hellcat. But I admit, I was entirely unprepared for my first up close experience with the flaming red 2015 Dodge Challenger Shaker Scat Pack sitting in the parking lot when it arrived. All I could do, was giggle.

Staring at the massive power bulge on the hood with the big shiny 392 on it, my right foot actually felt heavy. And the only thing I wanted to do at that moment, was relieve the pressure.

I ran inside the Geek House and grabbed Scott Ellis with a, “You gotta come see this.” And within 60 seconds we were both inside the beast – finger on the power button, and then the roar of 485 ponies yearning to be set free. This is the story of the Dodge Challenger…

Yes, it really is brutally fast. And yes, the first question every single person asked when they saw it was, “Is that a Hellcat?” And even though this car really doesn’t have a “softer side”, it does have all the technology any geek could desire:

  • 8.4-inch touchscreen+
  • ParkView Rear Back Up Camera with dynamic gridlines
  • Pandora, Yelp and several other apps
  • Wi-Fi Hotspot
  • Voice Text Reply
  • SiriusXM® Satellite Radio
  • High-Definition Media Interface (HDMI) and USB port
  • 12-volt power outlet
  • TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission
  • paddle shifting and Sport Mode
  • Launch control
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Air conditioned front seats
  • Harmon Kardon 900-watt, 18-speaker sound system

If you’re planning on getting one yourself, you can check if a dodge dealership near you has one available. By the way, lest anyone worry that I’m portraying the Challenger as a Hooligan-mobile – don’t. The “Dodge Brothers” are very comfortable knowing that this weapon is being used as a WMD against Goodyear, Michelin and any other tire that gets in its way. In fact, here’s the official Dodge commercial for the Challenger and its 4-door brother the Charger. The best part is the very end…
