Review: FlipIt! “Prongless” USB Charger

March 9, 2011 by Rick Yaeger

FlipIt USB Charger with Wall OutletDo you know what the problem is? I’ll tell you what the problem is! It’s the distribution of power, my friends! I’m not on a political soapbox here, I’m trying to find an outlet to use to charge my iPad!

No, seriously, every outlet appropriate for charging my iPad is taken up by something else already. And this problem doesn’t just plague me at home—I can find a free outlet anywhere!

Wouldn’t it be great if you could easily squeeze in a USB wall charger between the outlet and the lamp, clock radio or other gadget that is currently occupying its holes?

Well, your dream has come true!

The FlipIt! USB Charger is the world’s first “prongless” charger. Unlike every other USB charger out there, the FlipIt! allows you to insert another AC power plug through the holes of its flip-out power tab. Then you plug the other device into the wall outlet or power bar.

The power tab is blue, wafer thin, swings out 270° and hides away for travel. The FlipIt! allows for one .75 amp USB device to charge while some other device maintains access to the wall outlet. Ingenious!

For anyone, like me, who finds they need to charge devices one the go, the FlipIt! is a great solution: it packs small with no prongs and does its job well.

The FlipIt sells for $13.99

The Ideative Socket Sense, also reviewed in the video, is available for $19.99.
