Review: Smart Kapp Connected Whiteboard

February 5, 2015 by giovanni

If you do lots of work and planning on a whiteboard, you probably also take a lot of pictures of what you’ve written so you don’t lose all that work, and so you can have it when you’re off-site. I do that all the time! But there’s a better way – the Smart Kapp.

If Microsoft’s Surface Hub is not in the budget for your company, or you need something now, not down the road, allow me to introduce you to the Smart Kapp board. The Smart Kapp is a connected whiteboard that works with a mobile app on your phone or tablet (available for iOS and Android). As you write on the board, it shows up on your mobile device in real time! You can snapshot the board at anytime, so all your work can be saved as you progress

You can share your snapshots to Evernote, email, or wherever, saved as either an image or a PDF. You can either use VESA mounts or traditional wall mounting.

The version we’re using is a 42-inch board, that weighs 35 pounds and costs $899. If that’s not big enough for you, there’s an 84-inch version coming soon that you can pre-order now. It will weigh 64 pounds and run $1199.

Yeah, cool … except the makers need to join the real world and add a Windows app. Or has no one else noticed that, while iPad and Android tablet sales are declining, Windows tablets are surging? Not to mention, what if I want to stream to my desktop or laptop? (OK, an OS X app would be a good thing too, I’m an equal opportunity nagger….)
