I was, up until about 6 months ago, what some call an Apple “snob.” I had the iPhone 3G, then the 4 then the 4S and finally the 5. I even waited in line once for hours to upgrade (never again). I have to admit, they have a way of making you want the latest greatest thing…however from the 3G to the 5 I started to feel duped. I didn’t really feel like they were adding enough to justify whole new devices.
When the Apple Passion Fades
Sure, they were shaped better when the 4 and 5 came out, and that I feel was their best improvement, but then when all they did was add Siri in the next release, well for me that should have just been a software upgrade and not a whole new device, and that is when they started losing me as a fan. Releasing new phones just to release something new…to pretend to still be innovating. Innovation is not just about adding new features, it should be about adding new features that solve problems. Features that improve the way we live. Anyone can mold metal and plastic, technology should have IMPACT!
Once I started losing feelings for my iPhone, I started looking for love elsewhere…
During my 6 year relationship with the iPhone, I did cheat with 2 Android devices, the EVO 4G and the Samsung Galaxy 3. Both of those phones made me run back to my iPhone begging it to take me back feeling like I had made a huge mistake. I was just not comfortable with the phones…especially the apps. They just left me feeling empty inside.
Ready to Love Again with the MOTO X
It was not until I saw an ad for this new Android device from Motorola, the MOTO X, that my heart started beating out of control…I got little butterflies in my stomach…ok. That last part is not true, but I did REALLY want to see one…so true to my need to have what I want when I want it, I jumped in the car and drove to AT&T.
My first step into new cell phone technology back in the mid-2000’s was with the Motorola Razor, and really liked it. I felt it was a cool device, and it just worked. You gotta love when stuff just works right? So when I saw the ad for the MOTO X, I already knew that they had decent phones, but then once I learned that Google owned them and they were manufactured in the US (they did at the time of purchase, but are now owned by Lenovo)…well that made up my mind. I was going to give this phone a try…an HONEST try!
On our first date…I fell in love. This phone was beautiful to look at! It was so nice in my hand. It “fit” perfectly! The texture of the material is just fabulous. I seriously could not dream of a better phone…for ME. Now, this thing is not the BEAST that most avid android fans are looking for, because it has a lot of weaknesses…but for what I do on a daily basis…which is check email, chat on G+, Skype and text via Google Hangouts, it is perfect. It also has a good enough camera for what I need. I will include all the specs below for all the geeks…
Here’s the picture I took with the phone in the video:
Here is a compilation of the ads that got me:
One other thing that I find cool with this phone is that Motorola launched a site called “MotoMaker”where you can customize your phone and they opened it up first to AT&T. Unfortunately, I was not able to use this method, but seeing as how I actually love white, that was fine with me.
If you are looking for the fastest phone with the best pixel display and just a real MONSTER, then this is probably not going to be for you…but if you are an iPhone user who is looking for a new relationship…or just need a phone that works and will love you back…is really HOT looking…easy to be around…has GREAT stamina, and costs much less than the BIG dogs, then this is the perfect phone for you. If you are in the market for a new phone, I highly recommend you go to your carrier and at least pick one up and look into all the features it has…I think you too will be impressed, and you won’t even have to use any cheesy pick up lines!
