Samsung has announced pricing and availability of both the Android-powered Galaxy Camera 2 and the interchangeable lens NX30 cameras. The Galaxy Cam 2 will cost $450 while the NX30 will ring-up a penny shy of $1000. Both will ship during the middle of March. Both cameras feature Samsung’s Smart 3.0 platform for effortless sharing of your pictures.


Samsung Announces Pricing & Availability for the Award-Winning NX30 SMART Camera & GALAXY Camera 2

Highly-anticipated SMART Cameras to hit retail stores this spring

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – February 20, 2014 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and innovator in consumer electronics,announced pricing and availability of the award-winning Samsung NX30 SMART camera and GALAXY Camera 2. The professionally-inspired Samsung NX30 SMART camera is perfect for those photo enthusiasts looking for a mirrorless camera that has advanced digital imaging capabilities and advanced connectivity integration. The Android 4.3 Jellybean powered GALAXY Camera 2 updates and improves upon one of the most popular and innovative point and shoot cameras of 2013.

Easily Customizable and Photo-Enriched NX30

The NX30 boasts the latest connectivity features offered under Samsung’s SMART 3.0 platform. The camera offers high quality images with a 20.3MP APS-C CMOS Sensor, as well as fast and accurate autofocusing with the inclusion of a Hybrid Autofocus feature. Users will not miss any special moments with the NX30’s exceptionally fast 1/8000 sec Shutter Speed and the 9 frame per second (FPS) Continuous Shooting function. The NX30 also has a unique Tiltable Electronic Viewfinder, allowing photographers to position the EVF at up to an 80-degree angle upward and downward making it easy for any shooting angle. Manual controls provide better accessibility with the new design of the Drive Dial, which offers an option between single or continuous shooting as well as bracketing and a timer, giving photographers a variety of options to choose from simply by rotating the dial. Rallying around the mantra of artistic customization, the NX30 also allows users to save up to ten custom shooting profiles that can be assigned and accessed via the new Custom Modes featured on the mode dial.

The camera will also offer SMART 3.0 features, which includes new Dropbox and Flickr integration as well as NFC-enabled capabilities. The new “Tag & Go” function lets users tap and share memories instantly and easily, pairing the NX30 with NFC-enabled smartphones and tablets. The camera also has a Photo Beam feature that allows the transfer of an image or video to a smartphone or tablet by simply touching the two devices together with no other configuration needed. Photographers will find the Remote Viewfinder Pro function handy as it enables control of the NX30 from a smartphone, allowing the user to zoom and snap shots remotely yet still have full visibility of the scene, opening up new photographic possibilities.

Retro Design and Android-Powered GALAXY Camera 2

The GALAXY Camera 2 has a new and appealing leatherette design that will make it a must-have accessory for those fashion-forward and on-the-go users. It employs a 16MP BSI CMOS sensor, allowing for crisp, vibrant images in a variety of shooting conditions. Combined with a wide ISO range (100-25600), 21x optical zoom and class-leading 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch LCD, the GALAXY Camera makes it simple and easy for users to get close to the action and compose compelling photos for sharing with family and friends. Further improving the experience for users, the camera incorporates a quad-core 1.6GHz processor that enables faster performance when taking photos as well as when using third-party applications.

The GALAXY Camera 2 lets users enjoy the full benefits of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform. Boasting 28 SMART modes for users, including 13 new shooting options, the GALAXY Camera 2 is always ready to capture images with optimal settings. The GALAXY Camera 2 also incorporates an AF/AE separation feature that allows users, with a tap of the touchscreen, to properly expose an area away from the focal point for care-free images in challenging lighting scenarios. Sharing is made simple with SMART 3.0 features as well, which includes the “Tag & Go” feature, Photo Beam and Remote Viewfinder to make sharing quality images easier than ever.

Pricing & Availability

The NX30, available today, will retail for $999.99 and the GALAXY Camera 2 will be available in mid-March at a retail price of $449.99.
