Portable media devices that can play video have become very popular exercise companions, and large tablets grant a person on a treadmill a decent sized video screen for catching up with missed TV shows or movies, or reading an ebook. But attaching a tablet to a piece of workout equipment is often a bit problematic. If you’re not careful, vibration can cause your precious device to go clattering to the floor.
Scosche’s new fitRAIL mount (available discounted at Amazon) is designed to clamp onto your tablet and allow you to hang it securely on exercise equipment. The tablet is placed into a tray at the bottom, and pressed against a gripping rubber material attached to the frame. Final securing comes with a clip on strap that holds the tablet tightly. It can then hang on whatever machine you are using for your workout.
In addition to holding the tablet during exercise, the fitRAIL can be used on a flat surface to hold tablets at a good angle for reading, viewing video, or typing. The fitRAIL is described as being for iPad and iPad 2, but I see no reason it wouldn’t work with any larger-sized tablet. It retails for $49.99 USD, but you can get it for a bit of a discount at Amazon.
