Sony may have only released its Android Wear-based SmartWatch 3 in November, but that hasn’t stopped it introducing a new stainless steel version at CES 2015. The company has also announced a new accessory for the SmartWatch 3 that allows you to customize its look.
Internally, the new stainless steel SmartWatch 3 is the same as the existing plastic version, it has a 1.6-inch 320×320 TFT LCD, is powered by a 1.25 GHz CPU with 512MB of RAM, and features a built-in GPS sensor. Sony says the new model will begin rolling out globally next month, but hasn’t announced pricing yet.
The new SmartWatch 3 accessory comes in the form of a holder which enables users and third-party companies to customize the look of the watch by adding standard 24mm watch straps. Sony says the SmartWatch 3 holder will be available early this year.
As somebody who opted to buy a Pebble Steel smartwatch over the original plastic model, I’m pleased to see Sony offering the new stainless steel option. What do you think about it? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment below.
