TRENDnet Makes Open Source DD-WRT Firmware Available for its Routers

May 19, 2014 by Benjamin J. Roethig

TRENDnet is opening up three of its 802.11AC routers to DD-WRT Firmware: the TEW-818DRU (v1.0), TEW-811DRU (v1.0), and TEW-812DRU (v2.0). DD-WRT is a leading Linux-based open source firmware for routers, bringing more features than what is typically found in standard first-party firmware. The feature was requested by TRENDnet’s customers. However, the company does warn that installing DD-WRT is a violation of the warranty.

TRENDnet Announces Open Source DD-WRT Compatibility for Wireless AC Routers

TORRANCE, Calif. – May 14, 2014 – TRENDnet, a best-in-class wired and wireless networking hardware brand, today announces open source DD-WRT firmware compatibility for the high performance TEW-818DRU (v1.0), TEW-812DRU (v2.0), and TEW-811DRU (v1.0), Wireless AC routers*.
