The new Acer Aspire R7 notebook features an Ezel-Hinge that allows it to go from notebook to tablet configuration, and an active stylus that recognizes 256 levels of pressure.
System specs include a 15.6-inch 1920×1080 IPS touchscreen, Intel Core i5-4200U processor, 8 GB of memory, a 1 TB hard drive, and a full-size backlit keyboard. Ports include HDMI, 3 USB, and an SD card reader.
I have one of these. Yes, it is quite sweet. I have owned the Note 10.1, Surface Pro and Yoga 2 Pro and this is my favorite yet. No, it is not a light and portable tablet for reading books in bed. It is a full on 5.2lb ultrabook that is the first complete, pen-enabled desktop replacement I have seen. Love the flexibility of the screen. The scree itself is also amazing. Colors are rich, bright and vibrant (especially if you turn down the gamma which makes blacks pop).
Drop and SSD in for an extra $100 and you have a practically silent, powerful, flexible beast.
P.S., No wifi problems.
Stuff like this makes graphics tablets like the Cintiq look a lot less appealing. Pressure sensitivity isn’t quite there yet, but what the Aspire R7 lacks in sensitivity it makes up for in being a fully functional laptop and tablet.
