What’s New at the Geek House?

We haven’t taken viewers around the Geek House since our opening, and there are a few things you guys haven’t seen yet. So join us as we take a stroll and show you a few of our newest treasures…

Transporter Room

When people first arrive at the GeekHouse, they’re in the transporter room – of course. How else would you arrive? It’s right inside the front doors. We’ve also got starship diagrams on the walls (thanks to Darth Stormaggedon and Frank Redman) and will be getting a big Federation decal for the glass door.

Our Lobby Plant

Dan Pidgeon from StarPower gave us a plant for our lobby and I’m keeping it watered. I’m the ONLY one keeping it watered. Geeks don’t seem to be very good at that kind of thing.

Geek House Wall of Fame

The Geek House Wall of Fame is still in work, not yet in it’s final state, but it will be a thing of beauty when finished, with the final artistic plaques.

The Patron Wall

We also love the Patron Wall because it allows us to see your smiling faces everyday and get to know you better.

Break Room

The Break Room is almost done – Kien is pulling Ethernet through the walls so we can have a TV in the room.

Keeping Cool with Dyson Fans

Gio’s office is a little warm, so he’s got one of our Dyson Air Multiplier bladeless fans to keep things cool, in a very cool way!

UpDesk Central

One of the features of our big central room are the RoboReels in the ceiling to supply power to each desk location. Those still aren’t completely finalized (we want to use different grommets in the ceiling tiles) but the RoboReels are in place and people are using them. On the wall is our Epic Frequency print of Albert Einstein discussing relativity.

Quiet Rooms

Carter has set up his editing shop in one of the quiet rooms, where he’s working on the HP Z1 G2 – which is an awesome computer! And right next to him is the Matter and Form 3D Scanner that we’re just starting to play around with. Then we can print what we scan on the Monoprice Dual Extrusion 3D printer – it prints in two colors!

CEABots

The CEABots let our remote staff be in the middle of the Geek House action, but on this particular morning when we came in, they were all facing the wall. I guess they got in trouble.

Offices

In my office, I’ve finally got the Rebel Desk Treadmill setup again, so I can use it regularly. And Kreepy Kitty seems to be waiting patiently in Scott Ellis’ office. Dave Curlee’s office is just a huge mass of monitors. Screens everywhere!

Control Room

This area was neat and tidy a while back… now, not so much. This where we keep the TriCasters and the Dish Hopper.

The Live Set

People keep saying we should do something more interesting with our set than the plain white walls we’ve got now… really? 🙂 Yes, we plan to… it’s on the to-do list!

The Cyclorama Wall

The wall itself is finished, but we’re still working on the overhead truss system that we’ll be able to use to hang lights and cameras for shooting.

Storage Room

John is VERY proud of the storage room. And I guess I can kind of see why… it’s very well organized and we can find stuff when we need it easier than ever before.

I think I might have another something something for “The Transporter Room”. Expect another delivery in the coming weeks 😉 If it doesn’t work there, they hey, I am sure you will find a spot.
